AMC to Collect 5,000 Pounds of Supplies for Humane Society

November 14, 2015

During the season of giving thanks, Animal Medical Center is igniting a new initiative to bestow a few blessings on their furry friends at the Golden Belt Humane Society. The growing veterinary practice recently announced plans to host the first ever “Holiday Pounds for Pets” Supply Drive on Thursday, November 19th from 4-6 p.m. at both of their clinic locations in Great Bend and Ellinwood.

“During the holidays, there are so many great programs to help children and food banks and churches, but we saw a real gap for the Humane Society during this time of year,” says Dr. Nels Lindberg, co-owner of Animal Medical Center. “Our goal is to collect at least 5,000 pounds of pet food and other supplies, and people can drop off donations in advance if they can’t attend the supply drive event.”

Items in high demand at the humane society include pet foods, pet treats, bed sheets, blankets, pillow cases, new bath towels, paper towels, trash bags, and pet safe ice melt. And for those on the go, monetary donations are always welcome. The Great Bend clinic will have a drive-thru option for people who want to donate on a tight schedule, and Eagle Radio will be on hand doing a live remote radio broadcast.

“Our company exists to take the best possible care of our clients’ animals from large to small,” Lindberg says. “The Humane Society does so much for our community’s animal population, and this is the least we could do to make sure they have what they need to operate during the winter. We hope everyone will join with us to show our generous support for the important work done by the Humane Society.”
