EQUINE SERVICES
Animal Medical Center is one of the leading equine service providers in Central Kansas. Our state-of-the-art equine center features four stalls and portable equine stocks. We can provide full-service equine therapy, with chiropractic and acupuncture along with lameness evaluation equipment.
VACCINES
Keeping your animals healthy and free of diseases will help reduce costs long-term and help your horse perform better. We carry all the vaccines and preventative medicine you need, and offer them at both of our clinic locations - in Great Bend and Ellinwood.
MEDICINE
AMC strives to incorporate preventative medicine into every aspect of our practice to minimize the risk of disease. Our highly skilled professionals have the most up-to-date equipment and medical practices to diagnose and treat injuries, infectious diseases, reproductive issues, and more.
FERRIER SERVICES
Dr. Matt Wimer from Ranchland Forge visits AMC at least once per month to service the numerous equine clients that need equine podiatry, custom horseshoes, and other medical treatment. Not only is he a veterinarian, but he is also a highly trained and highly skilled ferrier with impressive accolades! His schedule fills up quickly, so we recommend planning ahead whenever possible.
ULTRASOUND
AMC has four portable ultrasound machines that can be used for a number of equine services. These range from simple diagnostic imaging imaging of the limbs, abdomen, and throat to more complicated state-of-the-art techniques such as using ultrasound for guidance during surgical or other procedures. Ultrasound can evaluate soft tissue and look for fractures that cannot be imaged by x-ray.
CHIROPRACTIC
Equine chiropractic care is a holstic approach to many of the health and performance problems of the horse, such as decrease in performance, behavioral changes, short striding, degenerative arthritis, muscle spasms, gait problems, injuries, and more.
ACUPUNCTURE
Animal chiropractic and acupuncture are valuable services with proven benefits for reducing pain and inflammation and improve immune health. Animal Medical Center is the only clinic in Central Kansas to provide animal chiropractic and acupuncture services.
DENTISTRY
AMC offers full-service equine dentistry, including routine cleanings, rasping sharp edges of teeth, and more.
LAMENESS EVALUATION
Traditionally, lameness has been defined as any alteration of the horse's gait. In addition, lameness can be manifest in such ways as a change in attitude or performance. These abnormalities can be caused by pain in the neck, withers, shoulders, back, loin, hips, legs or feet. Identifying the source of the problem is essential to proper treatment.
BOARDING
Our new Equine Center was built in 2007 and features four stalls and portable equine stocks. Professional vet techs take excellent care of our equine patients. This building allows us to offer the latest and greatest equine services, such as equine chiropractic and acupuncture, lameness evaluation, and more.
EIA TESTING / COGGINS TESTING
AMC is proud to offer Coggins Testing / EIA Testing (aka Equine Infectious Anemia testing) with same-day turnaround! Our USDA Certified laboratory is one of very few in the state that can offer this test with fast service, keeping your show and rodeo animals ready for your next event - even on short notice.
